Mechanical | Equipped for designing plants

The design and engineering of mechanical process equipment, often briefly referred to as`Mechanical´, is abundantly applied in the manufacturing, (petro)chemical and offshore sector.
Mechanical design in Oil, Gas and Petro-Chemicals
Mechanical plant and equipment design applies its knowledge of kinetics, (aero)dynamics and mechanics. The discipline is widely active in the chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas industries. Mechanical engineers here are involved in the planning and design of mechanical equipment such as pressure vessels, columns, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, reactors, steam boilers or compressors. A distinction is made between static and rotating equipment.
Fields of application are revamp projects, modernisation and expansion projects (´brownfield´) as well as new construction projects (´greenfield´). In addition, specialists for plant and equipment technology are involved in bid management, i.e. responsible for drawing up the inquiry specification, obtaining bids from suppliers and order recommendations. Their work is based in particular on regulations and standards such as the Pressure Equipment Directive PED, DIN, EN, ASME, AD2000, GOST and API.
